Who are you?

Hello, my name is Bethany, and I am your current activities officer hoping to work again for a second year! I graduated in July with a bachelors in Fashion Design with textiles and have been involved in many societies in my years at university such as rock climbing and astrology. I was also President of the Pole Dance society, and was a part of the committee for three years so I have lots of knowledge on how societies are run.

Why should I vote for you?

I have gained so many experiences working in the SU this year and I hope to continue my projects into the next academic year. In my first 6 months of this role, I have created a campaign against sexual violence, visited the houses of parliament and abolished guarantors, created a collaborative event for global societies and much more. As previously mentioned, I was on the committee of a sports club for three years, so I know the ins and outs of running a society and know how hard you all work to keep your clubs going.

What will you do?

Next year I would love to continue my work on the female only gym space in ActiveHud, I think it's really important to have a designated space for ALL women to feel safe and have equal opportunities to improve their physical wellbeing. Secondly, I would like to work with global societies and expand collaborations across the board with the use of the global social event. Finally, I want to make societies and sports clubs more affordable for students so that everyone has equal opportunity to take part in their hobbies and interests.

Who are you?

"I'm Chelsea I am currently the Social Secretary for Musical Theatre and Events Team for the Taylor Swift Society. My main interests include performing, karaoke, and Doctor Taylor Alison Swift (some would say I'm obsessed with her, but I would call that an understatement) I'm fifth year student, (I know, wow). So I have been at Huddersfield University for quite a long time, aha. I graduated last year with an upper second degree in Youth Work and I'm now studying a Masters in Education (Special Educational Needs). My dream job is to work with young people experiencing mental health difficulties. ".

Why should I vote for you?

During my time within Musical Theatre, I have increased my confidence and also learnt a lot about the needs of other students, even before I became Social Secretary. Whilst being on a committee, I have learnt how stressful and overwhelming the experience can be, which is why I would like to introduce monthly check ins with all committee members, in the hope that this can take away the stress and also encourage team bonding. Mental health has always been a passion of mine, and I will take that passion with me in this role. Student safety will become the forefront

What will you do?

Introduce a mental health support group for male identifying students - which will be part of my Project 84 campaign, because on average, in the UK 84 men will die by suicide each week. This is something I'm passionate about making positive changes in. Mental health training for all committee members - also part of my Project 84 campaign Bring back emergency accommodation, giving all students peace of mine that their safety will always be a priority, both on and off campus, and regardless if they live in student accommodation or commute to university. Hey, I’m Sabih, a final-year Creative Media and Production student! I’m the President of K-Wave Society and Chief Editor of T-Hud Student Magazine Society. I’ve been learning Korean for 2 years and I’m a huge Stray Kids fan! I’m also into K-dramas, exploring new cultures, and discovering new places. When I’m not leading societies or editing content, I’m diving into creative projects and vibing to the latest hits. Always excited to connect with others! Let’s create, explore, and vibe!

Why should I vote for you?

As your Activities Officer, I’ll ensure every society gets the recognition it deserves – through a “Discover Your Society” campaign and a society showcase wall. I’ll prioritise well-being with regular check-ins and an anonymous feedback system to support all committees. Collaboration will be key – creating a platform for societies to connect, share events, and work together. I’ll also champion diversity with a Cultural Celebration Calendar and ensure underrepresented voices are heard. With my experience leading societies, I’m committed to making everyone feel valued and supported. Together, we’ll create a more connected, vibrant, and exciting campus life! Let’s make it fun

What will you do?

I have 5 policies that I wish to work on throughout the year. These are:

1.) Fair Play for All: Recognition, Access & Fun I will launch the ‘Discover Your Society’ campaign to ensure all societies receive equal exposure on social media, newsletters, and campus screens. This will help students discover and engage with a wide variety of interests on campus. For sports, I will advocate for a cheaper recreational membership, making casual sports accessible without breaking the bank. Everyone should have the chance to enjoy sports without financial pressure.

2.) Society Support: Wellbeing First The well-being of committee members.

Who are you?

My name is Swera Asif and am from Pakistan, but lived my life in UAE. I moved to the UK not only because of my passion for Computer Science but also because I love to travel and explore different cultures. Besides all this, I am an artist who enjoys sketching and playing with colours.

Why should I vote for you?

I am passionate about making student life better for everyone. During my foundation year, I was a class representative, which gave me firsthand experience in listening to students, raising concerns, and making sure our voices were heard. That role taught me the importance of communication and standing up for what matters. If elected, I will work hard to create a more inclusive, supportive, and enjoyable university experience for all. I am here to represent you and make real changes.

What will you do?

I am excited to build on the excellent work our SU is already doing. If elected, I will focus on making our community even more supportive and inclusive. I am passionate about improving mental health services and expanding career networking opportunities. I want every student to feel heard, both academically and personally, and I will work hard to bring practical changes that balance our study demands with real life support. Together, we can create a campus experience that truly reflects our diverse needs and ambitions.
