Join Us on Microsoft Teams for a Guest Speaker: Michael Iwama
We are honored to welcome Michael Iwama, the creator of the Kawa Model, as our guest speaker. As a groundbreaking figure in occupational therapy, Dr. Iwama developed the Kawa Model to offer a holistic, culturally sensitive approach to understanding human occupation and well-being. The model uses the metaphor of a river to represent the flow of life, where obstacles such as illness, injury, or life challenges can hinder our ability to engage in meaningful activities. Dr. Iwama will share the origins and evolution of the Kawa Model, its impact on practice worldwide, and how it empowers individuals to navigate life’s challenges by understanding the dynamic interplay of personal and environmental factors. This is an invaluable opportunity to learn directly from a visionary whose work continues to reshape the landscape of occupational therapy.
