Rock & Metal Society Trip to Live at Leeds in the City 2024
We’re going to Live at Leeds in City 2024!
For our biggest event to date, we’re going to the music festival Live at Leeds in the City 2024, a festival that takes place across many venues in Leeds on the 16th November, that’s dedicated to bringing you some of the best established and up-and-coming bands from the UK and beyond.
This year’s stacked line up includes prog/experimental indie-pop mainstays Everything Everything, the Mercury Prize winning, post-punk/indie rock band English Teacher and the incredibly fun indie-rock band The K’s, whose debut album recently reached number 3 on the UK album charts (and you may have seen at this year’s HudLive). But, there’s loads more to check out from a plethora of genres. If heavier music is your thing, you may want to check out heavy psyche-rock band Fuzz Lightyear. We went last year and it was a brilliant day out, where we saw loads of amazing bands, so we can’t wait to experience it again this year with you.
On the day, we will be getting the train from Huddersfield to Leeds (time tbc) and you are welcome to join the committee throughout the day or see other artists, it’s up to you. We will likely also be going to the afterparty and sharing Ubers back, but you are also welcome to get the train back to Huddersfield earlier in the day. We do ask that whatever you do, you keep in touch with us so we know everyone is safe.
However, what’s best of all is that as a member of the Rock & Metal Society, you get an EXCLUSIVE DISCOUNT, unavailable to anyone else. Standard tickets are £49.50 + bf, and a regular student ticket is £38.50 + bf, but when you buy a ticket from this page you’ll only be paying £24 (including booking fee), saving you more than £15 and getting more than 50% off of standard tickets. This is an incredible offer, but limited to just 10 tickets, so you’ll have to be quick. As this offer is just for students who are members of the Rock & Metal society, you must bring your student card to wristband collection on the day to prove you are a student.
Tickets will be going on sale on Monday 7th October at 7pm, so don’t dilly dally if you want to join us on our biggest event of the year. (Note, if our tickets sell out, but you still want to attend, you are welcome to buy a full price student ticket direct from Live at Leeds and join us).

Event Terms and Conditions
All Tickets are subject to the following terms and conditions. Please read the Terms and Conditions carefully and raise any queries with the Students’ Union prior to purchase. Purchase of any Ticket constitutes acceptance of these Terms and Conditions on your behalf and on behalf of any person for whom you are purchasing a Ticket.
The Event
- All customers with a valid Wristband or Ticket must be over 18 at the point of Event entry or accompanied by a parent or guardian (please note this is for ticketed Events only). Valid ID will be required upon entrance of all events.
- You shall not bring all or any of the following into Students’ Union Events (this list is non-exhaustive and can be changed at any time): Fireworks, Sparklers, Drugs (excluding prescriptions), Any item which the Students’ Union considers could be used as a weapon (including sharp or pointed objects such as knives), Animals (except assistance dogs), Laser equipment.
- The Students’ Union reserves the right to refuse entry to and/or eject you from the Event. In particular, (but without limitation) you may be refused admission to or removed from the Event for any of the following reasons:
- For health and safety or licensing reasons
- If you behave in a manner which has or is likely to affect the enjoyment of other persons at the event
- If you use threatening, abusive or insulting words or mannerisms
- If, in the event security's reasonable opinion, you are acting under the influence of drugs
- If you have possession of drugs (excluding prescription)
- If you fail, when required, to produce proof of identity or age
- If you refuse to comply with the Event security searches
- If you breach these terms
- If your ticket is void.
- If before or during the event you have a complaint in relation to the event (including without limitation in relation to your ability to view the event), please contact the Students’ Union or a steward promptly since complaints are very difficult to deal with after the event.
- If the event operates a licensed bar you need to be over the age of 18 to purchase alcohol. Please be aware that if we think that you look 25 years or younger you may be asked to provide proof of age and if you are unable to do so you will not be served alcohol.
- By attending the Event, you give your express consent to your actual or simulated likeness being included within any film, photograph, audio and/or audio-visual recording to be used in any and all media for any purpose at any time throughout the world, the copyright to which shall be owned by the Students’ Union or its contractors without payment or compensation. This includes filming by the police or security staff that may be carried out for the security of customers.
- All guests are asked to observe and comply with safety advice, site signage and ‘No Smoking’ areas. In accordance with Smoke-Free Regulations, the tented arenas and other areas of any event are designated ‘No Smoking’ areas. Normal statutory rules and regulations apply and should be observed at the event and failure to do so may result in ejection from the Event.
- If any student is removed from any Event for any reason detailed in these Terms and Conditions the Students’ Union reserves the right to enact the Members Disciplinary Process as outlined in the Students’ Union Bye Laws, which can be found on our website: Governance @ Huddersfield Students' Union (huddersfieldsu.co.uk)
Specific Requirements for Access
The Students’ Union takes the needs of customers who are disabled or who have other access requirements very seriously and actively encourages people of all abilities to attend the Event. If you have access requirements for an event, please register your requirements through the email listed below and we will contact you to discuss them on an individual basis.
Cancellations & Refunds
At the SU we understand that things come up last minute and or plans change. However, we really do appreciate it when people let us know that they can no longer attend an event. In some case, where tickets are limited, it means we can release more tickets to students. If you change your mind about an event and would like to cancel your ticket – even for free events – please contact activities@hud.ac.uk or the person listed as the contact on the event you’ve booked on to.
If your ticket had a monetary value (i.e not free) then if you cancel your ticket up to 7 days before the date of the event, we will issue you a full refund.
If you cancel your ticket within 7 days of the date of the event, we will issue you with a 50% refund.
