Instead of letting perfectly good food go to waste, it allows you to buy it at a bargain. Popular chains like Greggs, Starbucks, and Morrisons are already part of this movement, and now Huddersfield Students' Union has joined the fight against food waste.
At Huddersfield Students' Union, we are dedicated to sustainability. From locally sourcing food to serving Fairtrade tea and coffee, we aim to make a positive environmental impact. Reducing food waste is a key part of this goal, with 99% of our waste already being diverted from landfill and turned into biofertilizer. Why is it good for sustainability?
Food waste has a significant environmental impact, when food is thrown away, not only are the resources used to produce, package, and transport it wasted, but it also releases greenhouse gases as it decomposes in landfill. By selling Magic Bags, Huddersfield Students' Union is helping to lower food waste, reduce emissions, and support a more sustainable campus.
