Huddersfield claimed a 79-67 victory over Sunderland 2s in a fast-paced contest. Despite a tight opening, Huddersfield's Joshua Forde dominated, leading the charge with key baskets, drawing fouls and accurate 3’s.
Strong support from Ninakwa and Bindura, bolstered by Shen’s aggressive defence helped the home side pull ahead, while Sunderland struggled to maintain momentum. Huddersfield’s formidable defense and efficient offense sealed the win in the final stages.
First Quarter: The game began with a back-and-forth exchange, with both teams looking to find their rhythm early. Huddersfield took the initial edge as Forde sank a deep three-pointer, followed by a driving two-pointer, drawing a foul in the process, and converting the free throw. The score was tied at 10-10 as both teams traded baskets. Forde continued his strong performance, scoring another quick layup off the backboard. The visitors replied with a basket of their own, but Huddersfield was quick to respond with Shen finding space for a two-pointer.
Sunderland began to build momentum, hitting another two-pointer, but Huddersfield stayed in the game with Forde's constant movement, finding space for another two. A missed three-pointer by Sunderlands #4 put Huddersfield on the attack, but the quarter ended tied at 16-16.
Second Quarter: Sunderland opened the second quarter with a strong start, but Forde quickly put Huddersfield ahead with a close-range shot. He followed up with a three-pointer, set up by Ninakwa’s excellent pass. Forde was relentless, once again finding his way to the basket for a layup and drawing a foul, converting the free throw.
Sunderland responded with two accurate three pointers by #77 and a quick two from #63 to swing the momentum in their favor. But Huddersfield wasn't backing down. Forde fought through the defense for another two-pointer, and Bindura added a crucial basket to keep the home side in front.

Forde took advantage of a defensive lapse, drawing another foul and sinking both free throws. A quick pass from Bindura found Forde for a jump shot, and Ninakwa followed it up with a fast-break layup.
With Huddersfield firmly in control, Forde drained another deep-range three-pointer, capping off a dominant quarter. The second quarter ended with Huddersfield leading 41-30.
Third Quarter: Huddersfield came out firing in the third. Ninakwa started with a quick dribble and a two-pointer, followed by back-to-back baskets to extend the lead. Sunderland tried to respond with a three-pointer, but it bounced off the rim. Huddersfield quickly pushed the ball down court for another two.
Forde drew a foul and made both free throws, and Ninakwa continued his excellent form, draining a three-pointer. He looked for another, but the shot rimmed out, though he quickly made amends with a steal and a jump shot to extend Huddersfield’s lead.
Sunderland found some life with a three-pointer from #63, but the home side refused to let up. Shen answered with a Big two off the backboard, doing the same again after a perfect assist from Ninakwa. Sunderland did manage another three from #77, but Huddersfield remained firmly in control. The third quarter ended with Huddersfield leading 60-52.
Fourth Quarter: Sunderland came out strong in the fourth quarter with #55 switching directions to break through the Huddersfield defense for a quick two. Both teams struggled early in the quarter, missing important scoring opportunities.
Huddersfield answered with a jump shot from Bindura, and Shen made a great pass to Forde for a vital two-pointer. Sunderland fired back with #7 draining a three-pointer, but Huddersfield stayed composed. Ninakwa drilled a backboard shot off a drive, and Bindura capitalized with a rebound and score.
The Huddersfield offense continued to click as Forde and Ninakwa connected for a jump shot and another two. Sunderland put the pressure on with a three-pointer from #55, cutting the lead, but the game slowed as both teams began to make fatigue fueled mistakes.
Huddersfield responded calmly. Forde drew a foul from #43 and made one of two free throws, followed by Ninakwa draining both of his free throws to push the lead back to a comfortable margin. A final timeout was called as both teams struggled to find a rhythm late, but Huddersfield held on for a well-deserved victory.
